Upcoming Advancer Project

In my Journalism Writing and Reporting class we are being asked to write an "advancer" covering an upcoming event in Waco.  I think I am going to write mine about the Baylor Homecoming.  Baylor is celebrating its 101st Homecoming the weekend of October 21 - 24.  The activities start Thursday October 21 with the production of Pigskin, a production of some of the acts from Sing 2010.  Pigskin will also be on Friday and Saturday night.  Friday night there is a bonfire held on Fountain Mall.  Saturday morning is the height of the festivities beginning with the Homecoming parade.  Baylor's parade is the largest collegiate parade, filled with local organizations and Baylor's Greek Life presenting their themed floats.  The floats are sprinkled throughout the entire parade, separated into three classes: A (most difficult), B, and C (least difficult).  The floats are judged and given rankings prior to the start of the parade.  The Baylor Bears will take on Kansas State Saturday afternoon at Floyd Casey Stadium.  The whole weekend is filled with excitement, fun, and festivities.  I'm excited to cover this particular event because it is a big deal to everyone in the Waco community and I'm hoping to learn more about Baylor's tradition.
